What I do

Typically with my clients I spearhead the development of custom business solutions and serve as a business process consultant, specializing as an Airtable Engineer. I have contributed to the success of diverse projects, noted above. I act as a subject matter expert for onboarding, project scoping, implementation, training and iterative enhancements. I drive the adoption of tools, oversee maintenance, and automate hundreds of hours of manual work. I have collaborated with cross-functional teams, often reporting directly to C-Suite leadership. I earn trust and build tools with department leaders across all business areas, creating fluid interfaces, databases and apps that upgrade workflows for many stakeholders. I am comfortable making decisions both from a bottom-up or top-down strategic thinking perspective. In short, I like to supercharge productivity and make the quality of life for employees better by automating repetitive tasks so people can work like people and leave robots to do boring work.

 Apple

Configuration Engineer
2022 - 2023

Los Angeles, California

At Apple, my team and I built and maintained the entire internal backbone for the TV+ studio, hosted on Airtable. A highlight from my time here was creating the central hub for the 100+ employee marketing team. We pulled information from the production, post production, and scheduling teams to help the marketing team create and monitor campaigns, manage workflows, prioritize goals and initiatives, and assign work at all layers of a campaign. My team built the tools for team members to work in an assortment of complex, but user-friendly interfaces. With a focus on automation and creating a source of truth, our team generated immense value for the Apple TV+ studio.

I led cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects iteratively with multiple dependencies and constraints in a highly dynamic and agile environment.

BetClub is a free-to-play app for friends to bet with each-other using virtual currency to win awesome prizes.

At the beginning of my time at BetClub, bets would be manually created. The process to manually create and publish each individual bet would take about 5-10 minutes, and because of this laborious process, our goal was to have just 10 bets across our each of our bet-categories (sports, Billboard Hot 100 music charts, finance, crypto and politics) live on platform at all times each week. When an event would come to pass, we would manually research the result of any given bet and settle it on the platforms backend. This was obviously not scalable, so, instead of hiring more writers or data entry humans to populate the app with more content, we crafted a system using Rapid API, Retool and an Airtable base (utilizing over 18 automations) we were able to compose and settle bets based on logical criteria. After implementing this automation process, we were creating and settling over 100 bets every single day with zero human intervention.

🎮 Esports Engine

Project Manager
2020 - 2021

Los Angeles, California

Esports Engine is an esports company in Los Angeles that creates full-service event productions and manages tournament operations on behalf of game publishers and brands.
At Esports Engine, my responsibilities included overseeing budgeting, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, establishing work plans and negotiating talent rates with the sole focus of getting projects completed on time and under budget. I worked with clients including CD Projekt Red, 2K Games, Activision Blizzard, Ninja and Adidas, managing budgets up to $800,000.
My main project was working on behalf of Twitch’s flagship ‘Twitch Rivals’ and ‘Twitch Gaming’ channels on their weekly shows as well as their largest event of 2020, Glitchcon. I oversaw and implemented a complete overhaul of Esports Engine’s digital workflow on Airtable. As Twitch leaned into Airtable, I connected our workflows to automate many previously manual processes, remove silos and increase bandwidth across teams, strengthening the partnership across the businesses.

🎤 LaneOne

Senior Operations Manager
2019 - 2020
⬆️
Operations Specialist
2018 - 2019

Nashville, Tennessee

LaneOne is a joint venture between Live Nation and Azoff Company located in Nashville and San Francisco. LaneOne curates VIP experiences for music fans at live events integrating transportation, premium seating, backstage experiences, and hospitality into one seamless fan experience.
In my role, I oversaw the project planning, development and execution of 550 unique events at 225 venues in 17 countries, focusing on delivering energetic and detail-oriented packages for our clients. I maintained strong partner relationships with arenas, stadiums, amphitheaters, event rental companies, promoters, and artist management teams. Together, we developed first class experiences for our artists most die-hard fanbases.
During my time at LaneOne, I built the company's entire digital workflow on Airtable from the ground up. This was a crucial shift, as it streamlined our operations and served as the backbone for the company's expansion connecting multiple departments to one fluid interface. This system became the source of truth and a guiding light to analyze data to develop cost projections and carve paths forward when making strategic decisions. This optimization resulted in tripling our operations team’s workload, supercharging productivity and limiting the need to increase team size as the company was scaling.

I can’t say enough about the job Cody performed for our team at LaneOne. He did a fantastic job managing budgets and ensuring our event activations went off without a hitch. He’s a talent I would highly recommend bringing on-board.

🎸 Third Man Records

Vinyl Production Manager & Audio Engineer
2015 - 2018

Production Assistant
2014 - 2015
⬆️
Intern
2013 - 2014

Nashville, Tennessee

Third Man Records is Jack White’s boutique record label and venue in Nashville, specializing in creating unique and memorable vinyl records.
Third Man has a high volume of output, and I typically managed around 50 releases annually from concept to delivery. This entailed creating production schedules, directly managing accounts with our distribution partners (Sony and XL Recordings), overseeing inventory, and leading weekly production syncs with stakeholders.
I also worked as an audio engineer by night, running a state-of-the-art analog suite recording live albums as a part of the label’s “Live at Third Man Records” series. In this role, I was a main point of contact with artists at events to curate a spirit of collaboration that resulted in creating memorable recordings and experiences for both the artists themselves and their fans. Additionally, I was trusted with the organization and safe keeping of Jack White’s personal instruments and audio gear vault.

Recording Margo Price at Third Man Records on the Nashville episode of Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown.

Fun moment! Recording Margo Price at Third Man Records, featured on the ‘Nashville’ episode of Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown (Season 8, episode 2) on CNN.

I was the project manager for this album by the rap artist Shirt, released on Third Man Records. The album artwork was licensed by legendary concept artist John Baldessari. The limited edition version LP was hand assembled, featuring a hole punch and a zip tie colored to match the artwork of the digital version of the album. The zip tie affixed a brush steel flash drive that housed additional exclusive digital content directly to the LP packaging.

I was the project manager for this album PURE BEAUTY by the rap artist Shirt, released on Third Man Records in 2018. We received approval for the album artwork from legendary concept artist John Baldessari personally, who created the original painting. Inspired by Virgil Abloh’s work with OFF-WHITE and Nike, we decided to affix a brush steel flash drive that housed additional exclusive digital content directly to the LP packaging (via hole punch and an Abloh-ian zip tie). This limited edition version of the LP was hand assembled by staff in the Third Man warehouse.

Third Man Records is a particularly hectic, fast-paced workplace and whenever issues fell at Cody’s feet, he quickly implemented solutions. As his direct supervisor, I found him trustworthy, motivated and an undeniable asset to the entire company. Work aside, I found him to be a kind, caring and compassionate human being.
